• @maxmelcher My typical solution is Standard.master (pub/collab), Minimal.master (search/FAST), and if needed a MySiteHost.
• @maxmelcher To @SharePointWendy's point, I do typically also combine publishing and collab, as long as it's not Public Internet facing.
• @maxmelcher MySiteHost has a custom one, but actual MySites use v4.master by default.
