Netflix Comes to Windows 7 MC

netflixWith the success of the Netflix integration with Windows Vista Media Center it’s no surprise that Microsoft announced some months back that Netflix functionality would find its way to Windows 7 Media Center. However, what was disappointing was the lack of said capability in the initial Windows 7 RTM. Those of us who adopted Windows 7 for testing when the RTM became available on TechNet were (albeit slightly) disappointed that we’d have to wait.

The good news is that the October 20th updates that came out for Windows 7 pushed the Netflix icon to Windows Media Center. For those of you who haven’t noticed it, you’ll need to navigate up to “Movies” and scroll left to the new “Netflix” icon. On first load you’ll be asked to accept the terms and initiate the download (which takes just a few seconds). Once it has finished installing you just need to supply your Netflix account credentials and you’re instantly on your way to accessing the “Watch Instantly” content from the comfort of your bed, couch, Love Sac, or whatever piece of furniture you like to use for your entertainment viewing.
