Timelapse Engine PCB
It seems that every day this project gets a little more involved. I was updating my schematics in Fritzing this evening, to reflect the changes made during testing, and discovered that Fritzing offers a printed circuit board capability. I had previously avoided trying to include the camera, input, and LCD controls on the same shield due to the complexity in the wiring, but a PCB with 6mil tolerances is certainly capable of holding all of the circuitry and surface mount components in a single place. At just $35 for a multi-layered, silk-screened circuit board it seemed like a great addition to the project, and will probably hold up to the elements much better than my soldered jumper wire design.
I just ordered yet another batch of header pins, and a second IC socket to avoid soldering the optoisolator directly to the PCB. This thing should be here in a couple weeks! Excitement is mounting…
